In 2004, winemaker Cristiano Van Zeller, in order to celebrate the 18th birthday of his daughter Francisca, planted a vineyard with Tinta Francisca (varietie planted the first time in Portugal, in the Douro in 1756) in Quinta de Roriz - property of the Van Zeller family until 2009, in which he joined Touriga Franca, Sousão, Rufete and Touriga Nacional, and this parcel was then named Vinha da Francisca.

All the grapes of Quinta Vale D. Maria "Vinha da Francisca" are trodden in wineries where they ferment afterwards. The wines are cleaned in French oak barrels where they stay on stage.

The Quinta do Vale D. Maria have a great depth of color, dark violet, with a great concentration of ripe red fruit, black cherry and plum aroma, followed by the elegance of the traditional raspberry touch of Vale do Maria wines . The aging in French oak barrels concentrates the original well-ripened tannins and softens its power, giving rise to a very elegant wine, with great balance and subtlety, ending long and fruity.
